Amouranth’s ban stemmed from the hot tub controversy that occurred throughout April and May this year. Spearheaded by Amouranth and Indiefoxx, the hot tub meta took over the Just Chatting section of Twitch, using a loophole in the site’s rules. But after Twitch released a statement and started a new Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches category, the hype moved away from hot tubs and onto a new meta, ear-licking ASMR. Now, users are once again questioning whether or not this type of content should be allowed on Twitch, and, surprisingly, Amouranth and Indiefoxx were banned for 3 days as a result.

However, on her secondary Twitter account, Amouranth tweeted that, after the bizarre day she had yesterday, she now believes it’s “totally possible” that the Doc wasn’t given an explanation for his permanent ban. But she didn’t elaborate on that statement at all, so her fans are left wondering what exactly that means. Still, Twitch has a reputation for its lack of transparency with both users and content creators, and perhaps that’s what she alluding to.
What’s strange about the statement is that it’s clear where Amouranth’s ban came from. Indiefoxx, another controversial streamer, was also banned for the ear-licking content currently taking over Twitch’s ASMR category. Other big names in streaming have weighed in on this, such as Pokimane, who feels for “legitimate” ASMRtists trying to be successful on the platform currently, and Asmongold, who believes Amouranth was only given a slap on the wrist.
While Amouranth’s Dr Disrespect comment is certainly ambiguous, it looks like her ban has lifted and she plans to return to streaming on Twitch later today, based on another tweet of hers. So perhaps she’ll go into more detail live.
