While the internet went into a frenzy over Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp being down for almost six hours, The Boys decided to have some fun and turned to the surviving social media service, Twitter. Keeping in line with the series’ humorous tones, the meme shared by the account poked fun at Mark Zuckerberg’s empire, with Twitter coming out as the victor.

The meme perfectly captured the true state of social media, with users flocking to Twitter the minute the other services go down. The tweet simply read, “when Facebook and Instagram are down,” and the meme features Antony Starr’s Homelander surrounded by a whole bunch of his fans. In the case of the social media outage, Homelander is Twitter and users are flocking towards him because the other social media channels have gone dark.
The scene is from season 1 of The Boys, in which Homelander appears in front of an audience of fans who seem to love the hero for all his work. The tweet immediately became quite popular among fans of the series, receiving a lot of likes and retweets.
